For nearly 30 years, Suzanne Fell has been teaching students MS Office using various textbooks and internet-based curriculum. She’ll discuss the current teaching landscape and how to overcome the challenges of working with distracted and disengaged students. For the past two semesters, Suzanne has been using TestOut’s Desktop Pro courseware, and has had great results. Dr. Paul Miller, Desktop Pro’s lead instructional designer, will provide an insider view of the thought and effort behind designing MS Office courseware around a pedagogy focused on providing the best possible learning experience for students through engaging videos, text lessons, and advanced lab simulations.

Suzanne Fell

Associate Professor at Maranatha  Baptist University

Suzanne Fell has been teaching office administration skills and MS Office applications at Maranatha Baptist University since 1990. She has vast experience reviewing and developing new curricula, advising students within the office administration program, and providing career guidance and job placement for secretarial students. She has many years of experience teaching Microsoft Office using both textbooks and internet-based courseware. Suzanne holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Education from Bob Jones University and a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, also in Business Education. She holds multiple Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certifications in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and she also holds the TestOut Desktop Pro certification.

Paul Miller, PhD

Lead Instructional Designer at TestOut Corporation

Dr. Paul Miller has over 25 years of instructional design and teaching experience. He started his career as an instructional designer for Novell, designing computer-based training for developers. He later worked for the College of Engineering at Brigham Young University, assisting faculty with online course development. While earning a PhD in Ethics, Dr. Miller taught for several years as an adjunct instructor and Writing Center Director at the Claremont Colleges in southern California. For the past five years, he has been the lead instructional designer for TestOut’s Microsoft Office courseware, Desktop Pro. In addition to his doctorate from Claremont Graduate University, Dr. Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a master’s degree in Instructional Science from Brigham Young University. He also holds multiple Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certifications.
