KBA-097 - Reset Zoom Settings

Problem

This KB will give you steps to fix display problems where the bottom of the page appears to be cut off and where black boxes sometimes appear on the screen.

Solution

If you're using Windows 7 or 8, the first thing to check is that your display settings are correct. To do that go to Start>Control Panel>Display (you may need to change the view to small/large icons to see this). Make sure your settings are set to "Smaller - 100% (default)" like the screenshot below.


Display Settings


In every browser, the default way to change your zoom setting is to single click within the window so it has focus. Then hold down the ctrl key and press zero, or hold ctrl and press the minus key, or hold ctrl and scroll down with your mouse wheel. If that doesn't work, you'll need to adjust the settings for your browser manually. Before continuing, close all your tabs/windows then open a new window and go to www.testout.com. Next, scroll down in this page to find your browser and follow the steps for it.

Internet Explorer

  
1. Click the gear icon in the upper right corner.

   2. Select Zoom, then select 100%.

Firefox

 
1. Press the ALT key to bring up the menu bar. Click View, then Zoom.


  
   2. Click Reset.
   3. If that does not work, hold alt, click Help>Troubleshooting Information then click Reset Firefox, then click Reset Firefox in the pop-up that comes up.

Chrome

  
  
1. Click the Customize & Control Icon.



   2. Set Zoom to 100%.


Safari


  
1. Click the menu icon.



   2. Select Zoom, and select Actual Size.
