Direct Marketing Specialist (E-mail and Direct Mail)
Job Description
The Direct Marketing Specialist is responsible for executing all e-mail and direct mail campaigns. The Direct Marketing Specialist sets up, executes, and tracks multiple e-mail and direct mail campaigns.
Duties
- Manage and monitor the direct marketing campaign calendar. Coordinate the execution of multiple campaigns from multiple marketing managers.
- Format e-mail content using plain text or HTML for appearance and effective delivery. Oversee production of all print materials for direct mail.
- Create web landing pages for each campaign. Work with others to tie campaign responses to the CRM database.
- Manage internal and external lists. Experience performing list selects, suppressions, and appends/enhancements. Manage opt-outs, de-dupes, and delivery preferences. Manage external list vendor relationships and contracts.
- Create and execute queries to build custom lists for targeted campaigns.
- Maintain the quality of contact information in our database. Oversee contact acquisition through research and other methods.
- Analyze list and campaign performance including open, click-through, response, cost per contact, cost per response, and return on marketing investment (ROMI).
- Based on list and campaign performance, make recommendations to improve campaign effectiveness.
- Apply CAN-SPAM e-mail policies and ensure compliance with evolving industry laws and regulations.
Additional Responsibilities
The Direct Marketing Specialist is responsible for leading the ongoing evolution of the company’s direct marketing execution, and should constantly be driving to improve and optimize all facets of e-mail and direct mail use. Responsibilities include:
- Implement regular testing strategies for format, subject line, message, personalization, offer, and list filters to improve delivery and response statistics.
- Identify and implement new strategies and testing scenarios for e-mail marketing programs, including technologies such as triggered e-mails, personalization, and dynamic content.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, best practices, and laws. Provide subject matter expertise of e-mail marketing operations.
- Recommend tool or vendor solutions to improve delivery and analysis capabilities.
- Seek out and test new list sources.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years experience executing and analyzing multiple e-mail campaigns
- Basic knowledge of HTML
- Experience building and maintaining e-mail lists and opt-outs
- (Preferred) Ability to build and execute SQL queries
